TRANSPORTATION FROM AIRPORTS
To travel to the Hotel Intercontinental from either Midway or O'Hare airport,
you may take an Airport Express
shuttle.
O'HARE AIRPORT
To travel from O'Hare airport to the campus, use
Omega Airport Shuttle.
Reservations are suggested; call (773) 483-6634 to confirm
scheduled times. The cost is $16.00 one way. The corresponding taxi
fare is approximately $45.00 one way from O'Hare.
MIDWAY AIRPORT
Omega Airport Shuttle, Inc. has instituted service to and from Midway Airport at
a cost of $11.00 one way. Please call Omega at (773) 483-6634 for their
schedules. The taxi fare from Midway to the University is approximately $22.00.
PRIVATE CAR
From O'Hare airport to the campus by car:
Take I90/94 East to Garfield Boulevard (exit 57B). Exit, turning east onto
Garfield Boulevard (55th Street). Continue on 55th until you reach Ellis
Avenue (before reaching Ellis Avenue, 55th curves around Washington Park after
crossing Martin Luther King Dr.).
From Midway Airport to the campus by car:
Travel east on Garfield Boulevard (55th Street) to Ellis Avenue.
TRANSPORTATION FROM DOWNTOWN CHICAGO
If you are driving, head south on Lake Shore Drive to the Museum of Science
and Industry; exit at 57th Street. Follow this road all the way around the
west side to the rear of the Museum. Turn right onto the Midway Plaisance;
you will see a sign there directing you to the University of Chicago. Drive
west on the Plaisance to Ellis Avenue (traffic light). Turn right onto Ellis
Avenue. there's a parking garage at the corner of 55th and Ellis Ave.
If you don't have a car, we recommend taking a taxi to and from downtown
Chicago. Taxi Fare is $15.00 to $20.00 one way, with tip.
If you prefer more of an adventure, you can try the "El" and bus.
BY CAR FROM FNAL
Take I-88 East to I355. Go South on I355. After paying a 50 cent toll,
take I55 Northeast toward Chicago. Finally, take I90/94 South toward Indiana.
Use exit 57B, turning east onto Garfield Boulevard (55th Street). Travel east on
Garfield Boulevard (55th Street) to Ellis Avenue. There's a parking garage
at the corner of 55th and Ellis
BY CAR FROM THE SOUTH
Take I90/94 West to Garfield Boulevard (exit 57B). Exit, turning east onto
Garfield Boulevard (55th Street) Travel east on Garfield Boulevard (55th Street)
to Ellis Avenue. there's a parking garage at the corner of 55th and Ellis.
PARKING ON CAMPUS
Visitor parking is available at 55th and Ellis Avenue. there is no
charge during the weekend. There is also
street parking along Ellis Avenue.
